Welcome to my corner of the internet! I’m Scott Moon, and I’m a passionate Civil War buff and storyteller with a deep love for history, particularly the American Civil War. I’m thrilled to share my journey with you on this blog and my upcoming podcast.
I grew up in a small town in Georgia called Powder Springs and spent decades walking the battlefields of Kennesaw Mountain, Cheatem Hill, Dallas, New Hope Church. I would drive by Kolb Farm on an almost daily basis. My dedication to understanding the past and bringing it to life has led me to explore one of the most pivotal and tumultuous periods in American history – the Civil War.
In the Summer of 2022 as I traveled back to visit my mother in her declining health I decided to finally put together a family tree for my family to keep. During the research I discovered that I had a Great-Great Grandfather who served, fought, and died in the Confederate Army. His name was Archibald L Moon and he enlisted in May 1862 in the 7th Georgia Infantry, Company H (Roswell Guards) and died at the Battle of Antietam at the age of 33. He was part of Longstreet’s Command , Anderson’s Brigade, D.R. Jones Division, Col. George T. Anderson, 11th Georgia Infantry, Commanding. He was most likely to have been killed at Piper’s cornfield or at the Bloody Angle. He left behind his wife and a three year old son.
Through my podcast, “Strife: Chronicles of the Civil War Podcast,” I embark on a thrilling adventure through time, unraveling the stories of valor, sacrifice, and strife that define this critical era. With each episode, I aim to transport you back in time, allowing you to feel the passion and pain of those who lived through this momentous chapter in our nation’s history.
Beyond the podcast, this website serves as a hub for my thoughts, battlefield pictures, and upcoming travels and future podcast episodes. Whether you’re a fellow history enthusiast or simply curious about the Civil War, I hope you’ll find something here to pique your interest.
Thank you for joining me on this quest to explore the past and discover the incredible stories that define our world. Together, we can keep the spirit of the Civil War alive.
